Study groups: reading

Group leader: Ann Nicol (01667 453159)

The reading group meets once a month on Thursday afternoons at the Nairn Community Centre to discuss the chosen book. Please arrive at 1:45 for a 2pm start. Because the group is too large to meet at a member's home, there will be a charge of £2 per meeting to cover the cost of hiring a room.

Books are purchased for the group in bulk at the cheapest price available, usually second-hand. Likely prices are £3-6. Please let the leader know in advance if you already have a copy, or wish to make alternative arrangements.

Meetings for the 2011/2012 season are as follows:

Thu 6th Oct 2011 Please bring along two or three books you read over the summer, and would like to share with the group. Please also bring ideas for books for the group to read later this year - all suggestions welcome!

Thu 3rd Nov 2011 'Out of Africa' (biography) by Isak Dinesen/Karen Blixen

Thu 1st Dec 2011 'The Hill Bachelors' (short stories) by William Trevor

Thu 19th Jan 2012 'The Left Hand of Darkness' (science fiction) by Ursula Le Guin

Thu 16th Feb 2012 'The Hare With Amber Eyes' (biography) by Edmund de Waal

Thu 15th Mar 2012 'Cat's Eye' (fiction) by Margaret Atwood CHANGE!

Thu 12th Apr 2012 'The Red Dust Road' (biography) by Jackie Kay
